foobar2000 is an advanced freeware audio player for the Windows platform. Some of the basic features include full unicode support, ReplayGain support and native support for several popular audio formats.

This player isn’t just for early adopters or software jukebox fetishists. It doesn’t mess with fancy buttons or bright colors. Instead of to prefer a utilitarian, straightforward user interface it lets the music speak for itself.

foobar2000 uses tabs and panels to help the user navigate its plain, but functional, user interface. You can customize the interface using several layout options. Menu options and recognizable command buttons reside at the top of the window.

Two panels, each with tabbed menus, reside on the left side of the window. From there, you can view the album list and the properties of a selected artist or song.

In foobar2000 you’ll also find tabs for viewing a spectrogram, a spectrum, and VU meter of music currently being played, display album art. Furthermore, you can synchronize it with portable players including iPods.

• Changed ARDFTSC resampler profile mapping to quality scale.
• Changed resampler_manager default resampler choice if no user preference is set – chooses faster resampler (Speex) for <0.5, slower (ARDFTSRC) for >=0.5.
• Improved behavior of shared worker thread pool on dual core systems (also mitigates lock up of foo_playcount on affected machines).
• Installer now detects Wine and offers to configure Wine compatibility options to work around known compatibility issues, especially with old Wine bundled by certain Linux distros.
• Removed Wine workarounds from UPnP Tools component, no longer needed with above fix.
• Default UI: Restored pure GDI HBITMAP rendering of album art by default, addressing various reported annoyances.
• Default UI: Fixed weird behavior of theme importer – custom columns & grouping values from imported theme are added to your configation after approving theme preview, not first time a menu showing them is opened.
• Code signed all utility DLLs bundled (FFmpeg, zlib, sqlite) to prevent foobar2000 being blocked by “Smart App Control”.

Changes in version 2.26.1:

• Fixed a regression that prevented automatic crash report submissions from working.
• Mitigated startup crash caused by specific buggy components.
• Fixed Default UI album art viewer repaint glitches if Direct2D mode isn’t enabled in Advanced Preferences.
