Win7codecs is an audio and video codec package for Windows 7. The installer will automatically remove most other popular codec releases from your computer before installing this concise yet comprehensive package. You won’t need to make any adjustments or tweaks to enjoy your media content immediately. Windows Media Player and Media Center will instantly recognize all your files as playable. MKV playback is fully supported. It does not contain a media player and it does not associate filetypes. With this package installed you will be able to use any media player, limited only by the players’ capabilities, to play all movies and video clips. Streaming video is supported in several formats in all popular web browsers. Users of Win7 codecs have the ability to choose what is installed and where to install it using the public redistributable. After installation you can select to remove specific portions without removing the entire package. You can also re-add the removed items at any time.

This package supports 20 localizations. Languages can be added upon request.

You don’t need to install them everytime.But because are released so often it means that they are constantly improving, and that’s a good thing.If you want you can install 1/month or only when you’re having problems.

I USE the K-Lite Mega Codec Pack in Windows 7 64bit and Win XP 32bit for years and i never had problems.

“shark007″ does have a good codecs & team, but like many, they don’t want to updater… I think that reason is that they get site views and download count on some pages, i remember that they had a nice discussion about this issue … but just like what some Firefox addson makers do… after update, you get their homepage… but free is always free…. or mostly ;)

I agree. The best Codec is K-Lite Mega Codec Pack. I use it years and i never had problems. Not even now with 64bit windows. SO, why to change it to a new-one with probably many bugs also? K-Lite exist MANY years. They know they’re job, well.

I don’t know where these claims are coming from that this codec pack doesn’t support FLVs and/or is bad, because I’ve been using it for ages and have never EVER had a problem playing any file type.

CCCP has given me (different) problems on 2 computers when dealing with MKVs.
K-Lite slowly breaks down over time and adds too much unnecessary stuff (more is not always better).

there’s a bug in “FFDshow” filter in shark codec since v3.1.6 till v3.2.0, the bug give an unpleasant noise with unstable picture while playing any video with Media Player Classic – HomeCinema!! so everytime roll back to v3.1.5 “bugs free”

goes to show how much you know about codecs. they change all the time, so 007 is doing you a favor by keeping up with the changes, yes some times buggy, but ALL soft is buggy at times, this IS THE best codec pack around for 7, period.

I have tried all the codecs, and for me, at least, Win7codecs is the best, and my second choice is K-Lite Mega Codec Pack.

This pack is pure evil and pure fail and anyone who says otherwise doesn’t know anything about what the author includes(pure garbage with no way of preventing it, other than doing it afterwards)THIS THING IS TO BE AVOIDED AT ALL COSTS, sides there are far better codec apps such as cccp which does not include any junk that gets forced on you.Shark007 just makes excuses when he gets asked about the junk being included and for that he is not to be trusted. Once he makes his junk optional then perhaps he could be trusted. He is only in it for: The money and only the money. He doesn’t care about quality workmanship or anything, Only money. People like him only make the good guys look bad. K-lite is not a good codec pack as it will mess up your system but at least it doesn’t force junk on you like Shark007FAIL does.
