PerfectDisk 12.5Raxco PerfectDisk 12.5 is an award-winning disk defragmentation and optimization software that provides all-encompassing solution for PCs, laptops, servers, and virtualization environments including Virtual-Aware Defragmentation supporting VMware ESX Server and Microsoft’s Hyper-V, plus industry’s first support for Windows 8, and Home Edition. PerfectDisk 12.5 ensures the smarter optimization for all your disk drives, so you can work and play faster, while reducing the use of CPU and disk I/O resources to save on energy costs. An important factor in faster PC performance is a thorough boot time defrag. PerfectDisk’s advanced boot time defrag capability is able to defragment files that otherwise would remain fragmented such as the Windows pagefile.sys or the file system’s MFT (Master File Table).

Get faster downloads, web browsing and file access, better photo and video editing, smoother PC gaming and optimal streaming media performance with PerfectDisk 12.5, designed for today’s power user.

Raxco PerfectDisk 12.5 Features:
• Windows 8, Windows 7, Vista & XP optimization
• Efficient fragmentation prevention
• Intelligent usage-based filing strategy
• Automatic background optimization
• Advanced boot time defrag
• Selected files defrag
• Safe non-defrag SSD optimization
• S.M.A.R.T. monitoring of physical drives
• Flexible scheduling

PerfectDisk’s OptiWrite technology prevents most fragmentation on your drive before it occurs, which keeps your system from slowing down. OptiWrite detects when Windows is going to fragment files and intelligently redirects I/O to stop the fragmentation from occuring. System performance is maintained and the need to utilize CPU and Disk I/O resources to defragment files is greatly reduced.
Because less defragmentation is needed, there is a direct benefit in the form of energy saved in both CPU usage and in the reading and writing to a disk. It saves users both in energy costs and in the time required to defragment a file system.

• Intelligent Hard Drive Optimization. For the limited fragmentation that can still occur, PerfectDisk’s patented SMARTPlacement optimization strategy optimizes disk drives according to your unique usage patterns. SMARTPlacement results in:
* the most consolidated free space available,
* the elimination of most fragmentation before it occurs, and
* a reduced rate of re-fragmentation.

• Safely Optimize SSDs. PerfectDisk’s SSD Optimize feature is an optimization method for SSDs that focuses on free space consolidation without defragmentation of files. Solid State Drives are not affected by file fragmentation like traditional electromechanical disk drives but free space fragmentation is a problem for SSD performance. As such, SSD Optimize will leave files on the SSD in a fragmented state while consolidating fragmented free space.

• Automatic Background Optimization. PerfectDisk’s exclusive StealthPatrol tab is used to set automatic fragmentation prevention and optimize your system when it isn’t busy. Auto-optimization affords you the flexibility to optimize your system:
* when it is idle
* or when the Windows screensaver is active
StealthPatrol also provides the flexibility to run or not run during certain periods of the day or when a user-defined application is running. No other defrag or optimization utility proves this level of flexibility.

• Flexible Scheduling. PerfectDisk runs when you want it to – one-time, daily, weekly, and in screensaver or idle mode. PerfectDisk is the only tool that allows you to prevent background optimization from running on certain days, times or when a specified application is running.

• Space Management. PerfectDisk’s Space Management allows you to recover and manage disk space so that your drive remains clutter-free:
* Detects and removes duplicate files
* Purges the Recycle bin
* Removes temporary files
The Space Reports feature allows you to view graphical and statistical reports of file usage and allocation.

PerfectDisk provides new and enhanced features and easier navigation for home users, SMB (Small and Medium Business), and enterprise users. There is better performance on very large drives, scheduling and automatic defragmentation enhancements, reduction in system resources used, improved reporting and manageability, full 64-bit support, and many more exciting new features and enhancements.

What’s New in PerfectDisk 12.5:
Performance
* Optiwrite Performance: defragmentation speed increases up to 25%
Space Management
* Duplicates Finder: Recovers disk space by detecting and removing duplicate files such as text documents, pictures, music, and videos.
* Recycler: Purges the Recycle bin and removes temporary files so that your drive remains clutter free.
* Space Reports: View a graphical and statistical report of file usage and allocation.

    After struggling with a lot of defragmenters, I have also came to decision that Perfect disk is the best… It works when you don’t work with your PC, updates periodically and hass all the features of a modern defragmenter. And it has its own update modue…

    Bad,bad,bad.
    This new Version is as slow as a turtle. It is unstable and i think most people should stay with Ver. 11. After a lot of improvements in Ver.12 there might be a better and more stable Version than this slow crap compared with Ver. 11.

    This new update has gone down the pan, so slow and crashes for me. I have gone back to version 11, until they sort the minor bugs out, never had any problems with 11. i may even have a vision with diskeeper 2011wink

    Yeah, you spin me right round baby right round,…like a slow spin right round, yeah , yeah V. 12 sucks.
    Sometimes how can stupid bonks do such a backwards step in programming software.
    Yeah, might use diskkeeper or O and O instead of this.

    Wow!! I love this new Perfectdisk version 12. What a huge improvement. It has a nice five tabbed interface and gives you every kind of information you need to know about your hard drive(s). Now when I finish defragging, it says 100% complete whereas in version 11, it always said 90% complete for some strange reason.
    The GUI is pretty much the same as version 11. Instead of boot time defrag checkbox, they use a nice looking on-off colored toggle button. It also has real-time fragmentation prevention (Optiwrite) and auto-optimization which are great new features. It has SMART information about all your installed hard drives. It also has a nicely laid out Dashboard which tells you the current status of your drives.
    When you finish defragging your hard drive(s), you see a lot of info in the bottom window giving you lots of info and pie charts. Overall, version 12 is huge improvement over version 11.
    As for those saying version 12 is a lot slower at defragging, my experience with it is quite different. I find it to be about the same or a little faster when it comes to performance. Remember, there’s a setting under Global Settings/System Resource Priority for CPU Priority usage. I always select the “Higher than other Applications” radio button. I think if people change that setting, you’ll see a noticeable difference in the programs’ performance. Also, there’s a newly released build (275) patch that fixes a lot of known issues. There are 18 fixes in all
    Lastly, I disagree with the negative feedback on this program. I love this new release and won’t look back to version 11 again. That’s my 2 cents.

    Okay, it’s usable, still no reason to get away from O&O Defrag, which already had the tabbed interface, auto-automation and more- and suits me fine.

    As stupid bonks also use this tool for SSD´s there is no need for to use it on SSD.
    This Tool only is for spinning harddiscs called HDD.So dont use it on SSD.
    Under Win7 X32 and X64 there is also no need to use it. Win7 defragmenter is specialized extra for Win7 optimisation under Win 7 X32 and X64
    Thanks to Freeryde.

    I don`t agree with tron001, PD is better solution than defragmanter that comes with Windows.

    Tron001,

    if you carefully read, it’s NOT SSD Defragmentation rather SSD Optimization – huge difference.

    Fragmentation has nothing to do with moving parts (in HDD). SSDs do fragment, this is why they need TRIM, the reason defragging does not work on SSDs is because they have an abstraction layer and do not grant direct access to the OS to the data, instead they give it virtual addresses which they resolve to physical addresses (which change as the drive performs wear leveling!). That’s why SSD Optimization is in fact recommended.

    Pablo,
    thank you, it works as a charm :)

    Regards,
    I
