Serv-U is a powerful, easy-to-use, award-winning FTP server created by Rob Beckers. An FTP server uses the FTP protocol to share files across the Internet. Serv-U is not only 100% compliant with the current FTP standard, but also includes numerous features unique to Serv-U that make it a perfect file sharing solution for virtually everyone. Serv-U features an open architecture that makes it very easy to extend, monitor, and change the server behavior with external DLLs. Regardless of the purpose behind your FTP server, everyone will benefit from the numerous security features Serv-U incorporates. Flexible FTP server (or Daemon) for all 32-bit versions of MS-Windows (Windows 2000 (Advanced) Server, 2000 Professional, Windows XP Home / Professional, Windows Server 2003, Windows Vista). It turns any PC with a network connection into an FTP site on the Internet. Serv-U makes a vast array of features available to the user that ensures the administrator has full control over their FTP server.
Serv-U offers the following: • Easy to set up and use. • A Windows standard, with over 50000 registered users! • Support for Secure-FTP through SSL/TLS. • Support for ODBC databases for accounts. • Lots of security through passwords, read/write/append/modify rights per directory or file for each user (including Anonymous), and access restrictions based on IP address. • Fast and rock solid! • Multiple 'virtual' FTP servers can be set up on a single instance of Serv-U. • Server can be administered remotely. • Supports S/KEY one-time passwords. • Support for temporary accounts that are automatically deleted upon expiration. • Support for UL/DL ratios, disk quota limitations, network bandwidth limiting, and automatic anti-anti-time-out plus anti-hammering measures. • Full UNC path support. • Support for virtual paths. Directories or drives can be mapped to any location in a user's directory structure. • Support for 'links' such as those used in UNIX. • Full support for all 'ls' directory listing options. • Support for messages to users, or from users to the server. • Users can be put into groups for easy maintenance of large numbers. • A complete implementation of the FTP standard in RFC959, RFC1123, RFC1760, RFC2228, RFC2246, RFC2289, RFC2389 and the Secure-FTP draft. • Supports resuming of file uploads and downloads. • Configurable messages for sign-on, sign-off, login, and directory changes. • Has time-out and time-limit features, so connections are automatically cleared when idle, hung, or connected too long. • Easy to setup and maintain through a separate administrator program. For automated maintenance the settings are stored in either an .INI file, registry, or ODBC database of simple format. • Has an open architecture which makes monitoring, changing and extending the server behavior possible through external DLLs. • Logs all transactions to file and screen that can be read by other applications. Includes unique session IDs, time, and date stamps.
Serv-U Corporate addresses the need for a business-class FTP server with no limitations and the ability to grow with your business. With this in mind, Serv-U Corporate allows the following: • ODBC database support • Integrated SSL Support • Unlimited domains with an unlimited number of concurrent connections • Unlimited number of user accounts • Support for directory mapping and links • Support of UL/DL ratios and quotas • Support for remote administration • Windows User NT-SAM / Active Directory Support
Changes in Serv-U 9.3.0.1, released January 12, 2010: Features: * Added Spanish Management Console and installation. * Added a "Move Group" button to allow moving groups to and from the database collection. * Changed the Web Client to not pause the loading of thumbnails when the slideshow is auto loaded via the slideshow URL flag. * Added a "Copy to Clipboard" button to the Domain and Server Log tabs and to the Spy Log dialog. * Added a new Serv-U logo to the Management Console. * Substantially improved remote FTP Voyager JV directory listing performance. * Changed FTP Voyager JV to use compression when listing directories. Bug Fixes: * Corrected a bug in the Image Preview dialog where the thumbnail scroll would not scroll to the correct image when in thumbnail view. * Corrected a bug where the failed upload event would fire even for successful uploads. * Corrected a bug, introduced in 9.2.0.1, where database users' expiration was not being loaded within the grid causing expired users to appear in the list. Expired users attempting to login would still be denied. * Corrected a SQL statement problem where customized templates were being changed for the addition of database categories. The change now only changes the "= ?" for the NULL statement request to "IS NULL". * Corrected an upgrade bug from Serv-U versions <= 6.4.0.6 would not upgrade non-ASCII characters such as home directories and user names. This conversion bug was introduced in 9.0.0.1 with Serv-U's support of UNICODE. * Corrected a bug in the SQL template dialog where the "select a value" dialog would not appear when the Edit button was selected. * Corrected a bug in the Management Console where fonts in Korean language browsers would not align properly in text fields and controls. * Corrected a bug in the Management Console where the anti-hammer connection limit, for Connection Settings, was not updated with the save button. * Corrected a bug in the Management Console where an error would occur when trying to edit a user with a "#" symbol in their login ID. * Corrected a bug in the Management Console where an error would occur when using the context menu to toggle the "enable/disable" option for the MKD and XMKD FTP commands. * Corrected a bug in FTP Voyager JV where a crumb button refresh of the current working directory would fail to resort the list view contents.

you use it pretty often eh? So you don't keep it running/run it as a service?
The issue dissappears if you keep restarting the service. Try leaving it open for 24 hours and if you've had it installed longer than 30 days, I guarantee it won't work.
I've been using Serv-U fulltime for months, this has been an issue for a long, long time. |

if you are looking for an alternative ftp program you should try Cerberus. It is not as feature packed as Serv-U but it is free and does the job well. |

Core Keygen works like charm. If you fall just one installation, yes you have a problem. Some shit like Machine ID (LAN MAC, HDD Serial, BIOS Checksum or whatever else) makes you unhappy. If you wish, step digging - Regrun Security Suite, Volume Serial Changer etc. There is no easy way. Format? Just kidding... |

@ demon , anistrat, Susan Jefferson, : Why post that? its the super old v8.2.0.3 keygen... You realize overwriting the 9.3.X Serv-U.dll file with the one from 8.2 will cause problems right? Posting the wrong version as current only makes it harder to find the real keygens/cracks when the do release! @ Lazy1, thanks for the tip! I'll try that
There is still no good working keygen for this version people. |

I'm sticking with 6.4.0.4 It's the only one that has the best GUI. Ever since 7.x release the GUI sucks. |
|
| |
general.chaos 13 January 2010 21:54: |
The UI in 6.4.0.4 may be more familiar to you, but I see nothing that makes it any better.
To each his own I guess. |

@ Lazy1, I tried your tip, but it made no difference.
I blocked it at the router, so I know no traffic got through. I wish I knew which IP it was checking the registration against so I could block it.

@ NetFlea... Give it 30 days and I guarantee you it starts disabling the service and telling you to register.

I don't like java-based applications at all. Serv-U v6.4.0.2 is easier to set up and has a lot fewer menus then this newer version. Why Serv-u decided to go the java route is beyond me. It runs slower between menus as well.

Journey, your links are to the wrong version. They are for 9.2.01 not 9.3.01
There seems to be no DLL patching in this release, so the problem persists. It's just a keygen, not a crack.... |

Here is what i did to run serv-u without constantly changing the dll file.
Copy the servu dll file and copy it for example to your desktop. Now install cobian backup (they just released version 10) You need to configure cobian as follow.
config before backup 1) stop the serv-u service 2) pause for 10seconds Now the backup will start copying the servudll from the desktop to overwrite the one in program files. config after backup 1) start serv-u.
Now i have cobian backup running for months without problems. The only downpart is that because cobian needs to shut down the serv-u service you loose statistics. But i dont care.
I have set the timer to every 360min to make a backup
If u need help configuring cobian mail me |

I just have the windows scheduler running a batch file that restarts the service. It happens fast enough most clients auto-reconnect. Like you said, you lose your statistics tho. |
|
| |
general.chaos 24 February 2010 15:59: |
btw, if you restart the service every 12 hours it won't phone home |
