altMoon Secure Antivirus is an opensource antivirus currently using the clamav engine due to fast response time and huge AV database, however we are implementing another engine that is heuristic and will allow users to customize the engine on the fly. It aims to be the best Free Antivirus for Windows under GPL license. It offers multiple scan engines, Net shield, Firewall, On access, on Exec scanner and rootkits preventions plus features from Commercial Antivirus applications. Moon Secure Antivirus was designed to be a simple, open source antivirus scanner for windows and will run on XP and vista. It can scan portable drives and fixed drives. It is able to detect viruses, Trojans and spyware. Unlike clam it has an enterprise level real-time scanner. Our vision is to release an enterprise level antivirus, which can be used in any windows environment. The aim is to provide a superior antivirus capable with competing with the market leaders and still at the same price, free!

You can specifiy exactly which parts of your network Moon Secure checks even devices connected by USB. However, Moon Secure has very few options although it doesn't consume much of your PC's resources making it a handy lightweight option.

Changes in Version 2.2:
- Commercial grade Graphic User Interface
- Malware database larger with better detection rate than clamav
- clamav engine 0.92
- Moon Secure Databases
- Support multiple core CPUs
- Improved scanning speed
